Torture, American Style is a horrific story. That a citizen can be taken away, and their family have no idea, puts much more ‘fear’ into me, than anything else.
I remember hearing about Maher Arar, and his dreadful story on the radio. It had me fuming then, and it has the same effect reading about it again now.
What a disgrace.

This is all a result of the massive culture of fear and paranoia that George Bush has cultivated in our society. Horror stories like these occur due to the black-and-white “You’re either with us or against us” mentality.

mph, I agree with you and I say that’s a totalitarian attitude.
the communists used it under the slogan “who’s not with us is against us”.
you should care more about your politicians and who gets elected.
freedom is lost in small steps, not in a revolution.
any gove rnment is a th reat to freedom and priv acy, I know because I’m living in a former com munist state from eastern europe.
