Upon the release of Flash Player 10.1 for webOS, will I be able to code a native webOS app that simply embeds a SWF? If Actionscripters can have this ability, then we can easily code our webOS apps in pure AS3. However, I understand that since Flash Player 10.1 is technically a "browser plug-in", this scenario might not be possible unless Palm could provide some sort of native webOS "browser canvas" code and then give us the ability to feed the flash player embed code into that "browser canvas", I'm guessing???

James,

Good point, and one that was debated. We talked about ways to "regulate" this type of thing.... however that felt weird too. The fact that one company can only get one "win" so to speak will hopefully minimize things, and maybe someone like EA will be nice enough to donate their winnings to the community? :)

Cheers,

With regards to free apps, will the hot apps competition also apply to trial apps, i.e. they might only last for a day, and then force you to buy the paid app? Since they're not really proper apps in themselves, and really only a way around the fact that the App Catalog doesn't have a "try before you buy" mechanism (would be very cool to get that), it's worth considering if they should be included.

I just wonder if rewarding the most downloaded (which is usually the big games companies like EA/SEGA if its anything like the iphone) is incentive to get independent developers writing great *quality* applications & innovating?

Maybe half the prize money should go to votes/ratings based on innovation or whatever; rather than just the most downloaded game. EA & SEGA have enough money :)

I love you guys' use of GitHub. I'd like to copy that at Adobe but there are so many random projects that it seems tough.

Also, your GitHub profile link looks like it's wrong.
