He's always been one of those nutcases on the fringe of British politics. I think all healthy democracies need a loony or two. I wouldn't vote for him but in a strange way I'm glad someone has. I think what makes this story so interesting is that to a lot of people this appears to be like David and Goliath. Like it or not, the US appears to most people as a bit of a bully right now. Most people agree that Saddam needed dealing with, but took offense at the half-truths (at best) and spin used to justify this war. It is an understatement to say that this has left a lot of bad feeling regarding current US policy (i.e. it's the politics we disagree with, we haven't all started hating the US). Watching George Galloway in Washington just feels like he's the underdog making his stand against what appears to be the big bully on the block. I don't know if it's right, but it's great theatre. I can appreciate your opposition to US/UK policy on Irag, but please do not confuse the reality of the OFF scandal (or the brutality of that regime) with your political beliefs.
