You have to laugh at George Galloway. He's always been one of those nutcases on the fringe of British politics. I think all healthy democracies need a loony or two. I wouldn't vote for him but in a strange way I'm glad someone has.

I think what makes this story so interesting is that to a lot of people this appears to be like David and Goliath. Like it or not, the US appears to most people as a bit of a bully right now. Most people agree that Saddam needed dealing with, but took offense at the half-truths (at best) and spin used to justify this war. It is an understatement to say that this has left a lot of bad feeling regarding current US policy (i.e. it's the politics we disagree with, we haven't all started hating the US). Watching George Galloway in Washington just feels like he's the underdog making his stand against what appears to be the big bully on the block.

I don't know if it's right, but it's great theatre.

Cameron -

Is it me, or are people innocent until proven guilty?

And, even if he is guilty, this doesn't mean that his words were not spot on.

They were my friend. It still kills me to be in a Borders, and see the Iraqi maps in the travel section. They are all new, and are there for mothers to see where their sons and daughters are.

You can view the full thing here: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article8869.htm

I have to say it's really quite ammusing. George's delivery and counter accusations are quite strong and make interesting viewing.

As for the "not answering the question" accusations, if you watch the whole thing you'll see he doesn't actaully answer some of the questions, but for good reason.

It's like someone asking you "Do you feel bad that thounds of children die every day". If you say yes then you get asked why you don't do anything about it, if you say no, you are labelled as heartless.

Dion, the honorable George Galloway may speak loudly, but it's hard to cover up the information that would lead any reasonable person to conclude that he took bribes for his heart-felt (?) convictions.

As for the scots, you don't have to tell me ;-)

Peace.

My friend I can't believe your going to let Mr Galloway's misinformation stand. He did not answer the Senator's questions, he simply took advantage of the opportunity to make a political statement.
I can appreciate your opposition to US/UK policy on Irag, but please do not confuse the reality of the OFF scandal (or the brutality of that regime) with your political beliefs.
