		<description>I believe it may have something to do with government regulations and what constitutes a &#039;game of chance&#039; and a &#039;game of skill&#039;.

Something that is a pure game of chance (lotteries, scratch cards, etc) are regulated much more strictly than &#039;competitions&#039; (no matter how low the barrier to entry).

I think that&#039;s why you see so many promotions where in order to enter, you have to answer some ridiculous question rather than just write down your name and address and post it in.

		<description>IMHO, The real purpose of the question is to measure the number of viewers from the number of responses. By making the questions really dumb, they ensure that almost everyone who watches responds and hence the viewer count is approximately close to the number of responses.
