Depends on the work environment too. If the team practises XP or scrum with daily stand-ups, i doubt there is time to “..read blogs all day”. =D

Very very true… when I’m paring I feel a lot more focused… I think it’s because I don’t want the other person to think I’m slacking off. ;)

That is 100% correct. It’s the subject I can’t touch when I’m evangelizing pair programming, because neither the developers nor the managers want to hear that we are lazy dudes who will screw around when we should be programming. But it is where a big chunk of productivity gain comes from.
